The last few weeks we were getting a bit bored in the weekends. The weather is luckily getting better and that brought us to the idea to go for a nice walk. Instead of walking in our neighbourhood we decided to get the car and drive somewhere a bit further away. We searched for a nice park where we could have a walk and afterwards a picnic. We did found a few lovely parks near us so we are already sorted for other times as we like to see different areas and not all the the time the same place as there are so many lovely areas near us.
We decided to go to Shorne Woods Country Park. It was only a 20 minute drive away from where we live. It really was a lovely sunny day so we packed some food for our picnic but before we had our picnic we wanted to walk trough the park.
You could choose all different routes. There was also an easy access route what is perfect for when you have a pram or a wheelchair. I did say in my head ‘ohh that’s brilliant that they made a route like that’ but the stubborn me said no we’re not going to take the easy access route we take the red route. That was definitely not an easy access route and afterwards I thought they might called that route the ‘RED Route’ as red maybe stands for hard and definitely not as easy instead of a green route. There were high steps (my smart watch said I did in total 9 stairs) imagine how that looks like when your carrying a pram as well.
Next time I definitely take the easy access route when we take a pram but we really did enjoy it. It was a gorgeous park and we walked a lot in the woods. Just a stunning area. After our walk (read: full body workout) we went to the picnic area to have our well deserved picnic.
You can get a little impression about how beautiful the park is in the photos below of our lovely day out.
After our picnic we went to the little café/restaurant next to the parking lot. Andy fancied a coffee and I fancied an ice cream. THEY HAD OREO ICE CREAM. I was as happy as child as I wanted to try one of them so badly. Of course I would share my ice cream with Oliver but Oliver had other thought about that. As soon as I wanted to give him a bit of it he nicked the ice cream out of my hand and didn’t let go anymore. I did enjoy my Oreo ice cream, the three bites I had! Seeing that face of Oliver enjoying his ice cream is absolutely worth to only have three bites of it. Of course I could have god myself a new one but I was laughing to hard about the mess Oliver made with it.
We had lovely afternoon and we will be doing this more often.
