We already know for a little while now that we’re expecting a baby girl. We are very happy with this exciting news and I’m very happy that I finally know the gender as well. Why I’m so happy to know the gender and why we decided to find out babies gender is everything and more I will be talking about in this post.
Why Finding Out Babies Gender?
For me it was from the beginning obvious we would find out the gender but Andy mentioned a few times to keep it a secret until the baby is born. It made me think and there have been a few weeks that I was convinced I wanted it to be a surprise. I thought it would be very special to wait and when you see your baby for the first time to find out if it’s a boy or a girl.
After a few weeks I wasn’t to sure about it anymore. I was very curious if we we’re having another boy or a girl. So we decided to find out the gender but we would wait until the 20 weeks scan.
Boy or Girl?
Honestly I really didn’t prefer one gender above the other. As cliché as it sounds health is the most important for me and also for Andy.
I have to say I always loved the idea to have one of each but that didn’t mean I was desperate for this baby to be a girl. It was just a fantasy I always had.
Before I was pregnant and during this pregnancy I actually all the time kept on imagining two boys running around and being a boys mom. Probably because I already had Oliver I couldn’t even imagine a girl.
From the moment I found out I was pregnant of Oliver I had a really strong feeling it was a boy. Only a few moments I thought it was a girl but most of the time I was convinced it was a boy and yes he definitely is a boy.
With this pregnancy I was really blanc for a long time. I didn’t had a clue or feeling if this baby would be a boy or a girl. When I was about 10 weeks I had a very strong feeling that the baby was a little girl but when I saw the baby for the first time on the scan with 12 weeks I thought immediately that it was a boy.
A few weeks after I got a very strong feeling again that the baby would be a girl. My feeling kept on saying it was a girl but I was never as convinced as I was with Oliver so I was still 50/50 for boy or girl.
We were actually going to wait until the 20 week scan to find out the gender of the baby. I had looked before at a clinic where I could have a early gender scan before but again we decided not to do it. On a random Monday I thought forget it I want to know the gender and I’m going to convince Andy to have an early scan.
I came up with quit some good reasons to find out already I thought so myself. One of the reasons was that it was my moms birthday so it would be a nice surprise for her. Andy agreed to have the scan done already and I would find out if there was still some space that week otherwise we would still wait until the 20 weeks scan.
They had some spaces left so we booked our scan for two days later on the Wednesday.
And then the moment was there for us to find out. As soon as I saw the baby wiggling about again on the scan I was convinced it was a boy. After a little while the lady said very quiet ”I know what it is, it’s girl”. I jumped up and said ”WHAT? Are you serious? Is it a girl?”. I just couldn’t believe it as at that very moment I thought it was a boy, it was just a lovely surprise. Andy hadn’t even heard the lady saying that it is a girl he found out due to my reaction.
We are very happy and blessed that we’re expecting a girl. Again either way would have been great but it makes me feel very lucky and rich that we’re blessed with a boy and a girl in our little family!
